Scholarships for military students
At GU/MSB-Lakeville, a military student is a veteran, someone on active duty or a dependent. We offer a variety of scholarships for such students. Each program has a slightly different focus and eligibility requirements, so read more to learn which one might work for you. Military Active Duty Scholarship
This scholarship is for qualified service members on active duty and their family members. An award is equal to the difference between the current tuition amount and $250. Students are responsible for books and fees associated with their programs or classes.
Military Advantage Scholarship
This program is for qualified military students on active duty, active reserves or the National Guard; honorably discharged veterans; and spouses or dependents of these military personnel. Students who receive this scholarship are awarded a reduction of 10% off their tuition fees and books each quarter. The award is in addition to any military education benefits, such as the GI Bill/College Fund.
Military Service Scholarship
Military personnel who were severely injured during service in Iraq and Afghanistan, and their family members, may be eligible for this scholarship. Recipients must be participants in the Department of Defense Severely Injured Joint Operations Center. Scholarship awards are based on the level of the college program. Students in bachelor’s degree programs may receive $5000; students in associate degree programs may receive $2500; students in diploma programs may receive $1000.
Purple Heart Scholarship
Service members and veterans wounded in Operation Desert Storm, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom may qualify for this scholarship. In addition, spouses and dependents of personnel killed in action in these wars may receive this award. The scholarship pays for tuition and fees that remain after payment of veteran’s benefits and other financial aid.
