Career Placement at our Lakeville, MN, College

Worried about finding a job after graduation? Wondering whether help is available? How about employment while you are still a student? We will help.

At Globe University/Minnesota School of Business (GU/MSB) Lakeville, we don’t stop at career training—we help each student in the search for that all-important first job. The career services department at our school helps students find work before and after they graduate. Our graduates are not only prepared for immediate employment, but prepared for and supported in the job search process.

Career development course

All students at GU/MSB-Lakeville complete a one-credit course in career development. The class prepares students for job searches. They learn how to write resumes and application letters. They practice interviewing techniques and create strategies for career development.  The course provides the skills they need to succeed at job-hunting.

Job fairs and employer relations

Our college holds job fairs at least twice during the year. At these events, local businesses introduce themselves to our students; students to learn about job opportunities and introduce themselves to potential employers. Many students receive offers for follow-up interviews and, in some cases, immediate employment. In addition to opportunities for employment, the job fairs allow students to hone networking skills and learn about employment in their career fields.

Resume workshops and mock interviews

We offer resume-building workshops that help students refine and tailor their resumes. We also schedule informational interviews with local companies at which students strengthen their interviewing skills in real-world situations. On occasion, a student will receive a job offer as a result of an informational interview—even when no position was advertised. While this is the exception rather than rule, it underscores the level of preparation that our students bring to the job search.
